Your Baby Can Read DVD

Your Baby Can Read is recommended for ages 3 months to 5 years.

Tyler is too young for us to know if this system actually is teaching him how to read earlier than he would’ve learned without it.  However, I can say that Tyler loves to watch these DVD’s!  He started watching them at about 4 ½ months old.  At first the video would only hold his attention for a short period of time, but after about a month he would watch the entire video in one sitting (sitting in his vibrating chair).

At 6 ½ months he was watching the DVD twice a day.  Tyler grew to like these DVD’s so much, that if he was cranky, I would put on one of the DVD’s and he would calm down immediately and watch the video.  It is great!

When Tyler was 10 ½ months old he would only sit in a chair to watch part of the video, and then he would get up and wander around for the rest of the video, watching in between playing.

By 15 months Tyler paid attention to most of the DVD (earlier on he would pay attention to parts of it, but get easily distracted, and do other things at different points during the video).  He is old enough that I just put the DVD on and he will run around the room, just stand there and watch, sit down on the floor or climb up on the couch and sit up there to watch.  He pays attention to most of the DVD on his own now.

At 17 months old Tyler still gets excited when I put the DVD on.  I’ll put on different DVD’s from the set, and he watches them several times a day.  These videos are still great to put on when Tyler gets cranky too.

I couldn’t use the flash cards or books that came with the DVD’s early on because Tyler didn’t pay attention to them.  As he got a little older I tried again, but he would just try to take them and either throw them or chew on them.  At 16 months he would cooperate a little better with them, but it was still a challenge to use them for very long.

Like I said previously, I don’t know if this set truly does what it claims to do yet, but it is great for entertainment purposes alone.
